A LIFETIME OF DEDICATION TO THE PEREGRINE FUND
The Peregrine Fund has worked with partners to form southern Kenya’s “Vulture Protection Network” comprising nearly 50 individuals from organizations working on terrestrial carnivores in the field who share real-time information via the WhatsApp mobile platform on human wildlife conflict, potentially poisoned animals, poaching, and other activities that enable ground personnel to rapidly respond to situations. Our team of Vulture Liaison Officers are deployed in the highest poisoning risk areas in southern Kenya. With support from field scouts, this team is responsible for deterring poisoning, creating awareness, mitigating human-wildlife conflicts, and collecting data on poisoning incidents. Since October 2018, the team has reached nearly 1,000 people in southern Kenya. This project is working, and your support will ensure that our Vulture Liaison Officers can continue having a positive impact on communities and wildlife throughout southern Kenya.
