The strait-waisted Modern Aviator is a flight jacket that no engineer or architect could pass by without a closer look. The pure aniline dyed leather is hand-rubbed, the seams are antique finished by hand-waxing, and the duel stitchlines are contrast colored navy blue; but what’s truly special is the detailing. Shoulder epaulettes and chest and waist-pocket flaps are functional button-downs, and concealed beneath the chest pocket and underneath the waist pocket flaps are zippered pockets–or pockets-on-pockets one might say. Even more intriguing, the strap at the top of the front-zip closure folds to snap to the wearer’s left collar stand or straightens and snaps to the wearer’s right collar stand, cinching the storm packet. Leather zipper pulls, created especially for this jacket, complete the well-engineered ensemble.

The leather zipper pull opens a pocket within a pocket–that is, the pocket accessed by unbuttoning the flap. While too many cooks may spoil the stew, the two-pocket system is a unique feature.
